Virgin Voyages is an adults only cruise line. This is a welcome change for those who have been wanting to cruise but aren’t comfortable with kids on board.

The ship is all inclusive which means that everything from food, entertainment and basic beverages are included in the fare. This also includes the many wellness and fitness classes, such as spin class or a low-impact bungee cord workout.

Cabins

Virgin Voyages cabins are designed for two people and include a bed, flat screen TV and plenty of storage. The bathrooms in our XL Sea Terrace rooms are amazing and so much nicer than I’ve seen on any other cruise ship. I love that the lighting settings have cheeky names and that the shower room is separate from the toilet room.

The closet is also quite large and has a clothes bar with hangers as well as shelves which double as the safe. Another unique feature is the ability to convert your bed into a sofa which is great when travelling solo and if you plan on meeting up with travel buddies before dinner. The bedding is super comfortable and the bathroom products are high quality.

Dining

Like many other cruise lines, Virgin Voyages offers a variety of dining options. However, they do things differently. You won’t find massive buffets or a traditional dining room on these ships. Instead, you’ll have a variety of elevated dining experiences to choose from.

From pizza to charcuterie and everything in between, there are plenty of quick bites available on the ship. Plus, there are multiple locations to get a healthy meal on the go.

Additionally, all essential beverages are included in your fare which means that you won’t have to worry about overpriced bottled water or endless refills. You can also opt to purchase the unlimited drinks package for an additional fee. Additionally, all gratuities are included as well. This is a major benefit for solo travelers!

Entertainment

Virgin Voyages has ripped up the cruise rulebook when it comes to entertainment. You’ll find a few traditional venues but most are smaller, more intimate spaces with multiple events throughout the day and night.

Shows range from acrobatics to comedy and some require reservations which can be made on the Virgin Voyages app starting from embarkation day. Popular shows like the Duel Reality (modern adaptation of Romeo and Juliet) and UNTITLED DANCESHOWPARTYTHING have limited availability so be sure to reserve in advance.

One of the best parts of cruising on a Virgin ship is that nearly everything is included in your fare such as basic drinks, most entertainment and even tips. The exceptions are alcoholic beverages and some meal upgrades. In addition, all gratuities are prepaid by the line which makes it super easy to relax and enjoy your cruise.

Excursions

As with all cruises, there’s plenty to do aboard. From workouts and entertainment to dining and drinks there is something for everyone.

The ship’s app is super helpful and provides dinner plans, ongoing events, and a handy-dandy guide to everything on the ship. It also allows you to book excursions that are well-timed with the times the ship docks and departs.

One of the most popular excursions is a day on Bimini, the cruise line’s private island. It’s easy to access from the ship and offers a pier that brings you right up to the resort. During your time on the beach you can try out a truffle foraging experience with a pro forager and a truffle-sniffing dog. It may take more effort than just grabbing a latte, but it will certainly give you something to brag about.

Activities

Virgin Voyages has really ripped up the cruise ship rule book when it comes to entertainment. Instead of one main theater, shows are spread out in multiple venues and range from comedy to Cirque du Soleil-style acrobatic shows. They also offer a variety of group fitness classes and a boxing training camp (more on this to come in my wellness post).

The Manor and Red Room both host Festival Stage acts that include everything from mentalists and magicians to a capella groups and comedians. In addition, they have DJ’s in most bars and lounges around the ship playing great music day and night. Unlike Royal Caribbean, everything on Virgin Voyages is included in the fare (alcoholic beverages excluded). Even gratuities are covered. This is a big plus for some travelers.
