Located on the Gulf of Thailand, Pattaya is a popular tourist destination. This coastal resort is famous for its beaches and lively nightlife.
In recent years, authorities have aimed to attract families to Pattaya and there are now a number of family-friendly attractions and activities. However, it remains mostly an adult’s destination.
The Pattaya Floating Market is one of the major attractions in Thailand. Located on the Chao Phraya River, this market is a great way to experience the local lifestyle of Thailand.
The Floating Market is a place where you can enjoy shopping, entertainment and dining in one spot. You can either walk around on the wooden walkways or go for a boat ride to view the stalls from the water.
A popular destination in Pattaya, the Floating Market is home to traditional Thai crafts and produce that are sold from boats and waterfront shops. You can also watch a variety of shows like traditional dances and sea boxing.
Unlike other floating markets, the Pattaya Floating Market features 4 separate areas representing the four regions of Thailand. Each area is divided into pavilions that represent the typical architectural features of each region.
Pattaya Beach is about three to four kilometers long and is lined with hotels, restaurants and shops. It’s a great place to sunbathe or take part in water sports like parasailing and jet skiing, but it can also be a lively spot at night with bars and clubs lining the shore.
If you’re looking for a more tranquil atmosphere, Jomtien Beach is just two kilometers away from Pattaya and offers a quieter crowd. It’s perfect for anyone wanting a little quiet time, and it also hosts some popular water sports such as windsurfing and kiteboarding.
Another option is to head over to Koh Larn, an island located just a 15-minute speedboat ride from Walking Street. It’s home to beautiful beaches, a bustling floating market, and an abundance of marine life.
Jomtien Beach is a popular destination for locals and tourists alike. With a long beach and less seedy atmosphere, it’s a great place for families and couples to have a relaxing time.
There are a few different options for accommodation in the area, ranging from hotels to guesthouses and resorts. Sarita Chalet & Spa is a charming boutique hotel located only 30 meters from the beach, with rooms offering breathtaking views of the sea.
Another choice is the Ocean Marina Yacht Club, one of the largest marinas in Asia and the only one in Pattaya. Here you can book a wide range of boat charters to take you out for a day or two exploring the islands off the coast.
Unlike the bustling central parts of Pattaya, Jomtien Beach is quieter and more family friendly. It’s also a good option for people visiting Pattaya who don’t want the noise and nightlife of the main town.
If you are a fan of Buddha images then you can’t miss the world-famous Khao Chi Chan, or Lotus Mountain. This famous attraction is home to the largest Buddha image in the world, and you can visit this enchanting spot during your stay in Pattaya.
The image is carved into the side of this huge limestone mountain, and it took several months for the whole carving to be completed. The contour of the image was first designed on a computer, before being etched into the surface with lasers and finished in gold plates.
You can get to the mountain on your own or with a taxi. It is a good idea to tell your driver the name of the mountain as you don’t want them to take you to the wrong place!
