norwegian sky

As one of Norwegian Cruise Line’s smallest ships, the Sky should appeal to travelers who enjoy the intimacy of a smaller ship and like to form connections with fellow passengers.

It offers three- and four-day cruises year-round to the Bahamas from PortMiami. Its shorter itineraries may also appeal to those with busy schedules looking for a tropical getaway.

Open Bar

Norwegian Sky made headlines in 2016 with its alcohol-inclusive bar program for guests 21 and older, which included unlimited access to premium spirits, mixed cocktails, wines by the glass, and bottled or draft beer up to $11. It was a key selling point in Norwegian’s competitive short cruise market.

But, starting in 2019, Norwegian is hiking the price of its drinks package and will no longer allow passengers in higher tiers to order drinks that cost more than $15.

It also will raise the price of a less-expensive package that includes beer, wine by the glass costing up to $15 and soda. However, it will remain the same for passengers in its Corks and Caps package.

Great Outdoors Cafe

The Great Outdoors Cafe is a buffet style venue that serves up some good old-fashioned grill food. It’s a nice place to grab a snack during the day, especially if you’re looking for something a little more substantial than your usual cruise ship fare.

Located on deck 11, this restaurant is one of the many complimentary venues aboard Norwegian Sky, including two main dining rooms. The Garden Cafe, in particular, has a surprisingly large selection of foods, including a made-to-order omelet station and a carving station.

Outrigger Lounge

The Outrigger Lounge is a great place to relax and unwind. This outdoor bar overlooks the pool deck and has plenty of tables and chairs to sit and sip your favorite frozen drink.

Norwegian Sky’s complimentary bars and lounges are open late, keeping the party rolling. It’s one of the few cruise ships that offer an open bar, meaning you can order any drink you want from any bar at no additional charge!

It’s a great way to save money while still enjoying a great vacation. Plus, the ship’s Freestyle Cruising attitude means you can eat at any restaurant you want!

Sports Bar

If you’re a sports buff, the Norwegian Sky Bar is a great place to watch the game and have a few brews. This bar has plenty of TVs, plenty of seating and plenty of room to relax.

You can also find sports bars on other ships in the NCL fleet. These are usually pretty huge venues that feature sports memorabilia and dozens of televisions to show your favorite team’s games.

Some also offer a big screen for watching movies, or even NFL games. These are the best cruise ship sports bars on board.

Pool

Norwegian Sky’s two large outdoor pools offer sun beds, deck chairs and a hot tub or two. These outdoor areas are great for a relaxing swim or to get your daily workout in before breakfast.

One of the most popular and crowded bars is located right next to the pool. It’s also the longest poolside bar at sea.

The ship was recently refurbished and introduced a wider variety of dining options and fully renovated staterooms. Norwegian Sky offers 3- and 4-night cruises year-round to the Bahamas.
