Hilton’s new Confirmed Connecting Rooms feature, available through the Hilton Honors loyalty app, enables travelers to confirm and book interconnecting rooms ahead of time to ensure their group can stay together.
The app also features an expanded map that shows members where available rooms are located in relation to city streets, public transportation, parks and bodies of water. The Google Maps integration is another step in the company’s commitment to deliver more personalized experiences to its members on the go.
Check-in
Online check-in enables guests to complete their reservation online on their mobile phone, tablet or laptop before arriving at the hotel. This allows them to bypass the front desk and saves time for managers at the front desk who have to manually enter in guest information.
It also lets guests pre-select their rooms and choose to receive a digital key that unlocks the door using their smartphone app. This alternative to the traditional room key enables them to avoid the front desk queues that can form during busy arrival times.
Moreover, Hilton’s new system also gives guests the option to make upgrades and special requests on their own, giving them more control over their stay at Hilton hotels. This innovation is an industry first and is based on data and feedback from HHonors members, guest surveys and social media posts.
The feature will be rolled out at more than 4,000 Hilton Worldwide properties across 11 brands by year’s end. It will enable guests to choose the exact room from digital floor plans or lists populated from the hotel’s inventory, as well as to purchase upgrades and request specific items to be delivered to their rooms.
Check-out
Hilton offers a number of digital check-in and room selection options through its mobile app, Web site and hotel Web sites. Guests can choose their preferred room through floor plan maps or lists populated with available inventory.
Hilton HHonors members can also make special requests by purchasing upgrades or asking for specific amenities to be delivered before their arrival. These features are available at most hotels in Hilton’s portfolio and will help the company further personalize the guest experience.
In addition, the company is rolling out the ability to use a smartphone as a room key for Hilton HHonors members. This functionality is currently being rolled out at select brands in the company’s portfolio, and will be a system-wide option for all Hilton brands by spring 2015.
