Carnival sunshine may be the oldest ship in the fleet, but it is still packed with everything you want to see and do. It offers a great mix of fun, dining and entertainment.
This cruise ship carries over 3,000 passengers and has a crew of over 1,000 people. Its recent $155 million renovation is one of the many upgrades added in the fleet-wide upgrade program for Carnival cruise ships.
Fun at Sea
If you’re looking for fun with a capital F, then Carnival sunshine is the ship for you. Its fleet of ships boasts a variety of activities and events that are sure to keep you busy throughout your cruise.
On board, you’ll find lots of places to relax and unwind in the sunshine – from the largest Serenity area ever to the largest pool at sea! You can take a dip, lounge on a deck chair, watch a movie on the big screen or just chill out.
The kids will love spending time at WaterWorks, the onboard water park where you’ll find hundreds of feet of twisting rides and slides. You can also play a game of Hasbro, The Game Show; make towel animals and even have your own poolside DJ!
Those who aren’t into the sun can spend their days at Club O2 where they can enjoy live music, movies and sporting events. It’s a great place to relax and unwind after the sun goes down, too.
Like all big-ship operators, Carnival cruise lines pack a lot of dining options into each ship. Some are included in the fare, and others are offered at an additional charge.
The ship features a wide array of restaurants that range from the casual Lido marketplace to more formal main dining rooms. It also has a number of specialty eateries for an extra charge, including a Guy Fieri burger bar and Carnival’s first Asian restaurant, JiJi.
For poolside eating, the Carnival Sunshine offers two of the best quick-serve options at sea: BlueIguana Cantina and Guy’s Burger Joint. Both serve fresh fish tacos, fried tortilla chips and burgers that are ground to order daily.
If you’re looking for a more relaxed atmosphere, the Carnival Sunshine also has a special adults-only area called Serenity. It’s the largest and most comfortable Serenity area at sea, with three decks and plenty of lounge chairs. There’s even a warm whirlpool where you can relax.
Carnival Sunshine is one of the most popular cruise ships. It has a stellar design and plenty of bars and restaurants to enjoy.
Entertainment is usually a performance, but it can also mean a piece of art, music, or a game. It can also be something that people do as a form of relaxation or distraction.
Examples of entertainment include the clown at a birthday party, a Broadway show, a stadium rock concert, your friends fighting over the last potato chip—and that list goes on. Most forms of entertainment have been around for centuries.
A good example of how storytelling can entertain is the story of Scheherazade, a Persian professional storyteller. It has been adapted into an orchestral work, a film, and a video game.
There are many different types of accommodations available on Carnival cruise ships. Among the most popular is the balcony cabin, which provides guests with a little extra space and a private outdoor area.
Suites on Carnival cruise ships are a step above balcony staterooms and are usually the largest staterooms onboard. They feature separate living and sleeping areas, large bathrooms with whirlpool tubs, double sinks, a walk-in closet/dressing area and a spacious balcony.
While these suites can be more expensive than their balcony counterparts, they also come with many more perks and a larger range of amenities. Savvy cruisers can easily find a suite that fits their needs, budget and style.
Newer Carnival ships like Mardi Gras and Carnival Celebration have introduced a premium suite type called “Excel” that includes a whole host of extra benefits. For example, Excel suite passengers enjoy priority check-in, boarding and debarkation, their first choice of dining times, free laundry service and access to a newly-for-the-line resort enclave on Deck 19 called Loft 19.
