American Airlines is the world’s largest airline. It operates a fleet of over 1,536 aircraft, including Boeing, Airbus, and McDonnell Douglas jets. The carrier is committed to using sustainable fuels and has announced plans to launch an eVTOL – electric vertical take-off and landing – aircraft by 2025. This will allow it to fly domestically at a fraction of the time and cost with zero carbon emissions.
AAdvantage
AAdvantage is one of the most popular frequent flyer programs in the world. It offers a variety of benefits to loyal customers, including elite status tiers and discounts on flights and other travel expenses.
Earlier this year, American Airlines revamped its elite-status program to simplify the process of earning and maintaining status. Instead of tracking 3 metrics – Elite Qualifying Miles (EQM), Elite Qualifying Dollars (EQD) and Elite Qualifying Segments (EQS) – AAdvantage members now care about just one metric: Loyalty Points.
In addition to miles earned through flying with American Airlines, AAdvantage members can earn points by shopping with a variety of partners and using certain credit cards. These co-branded cards typically come with big sign-up bonuses, which can help you rack up thousands of points in no time.
AAdvantage also offers Systemwide Upgrades upon reaching set thresholds, which can be used to upgrade one cabin class on a one-way itinerary operated by American Airlines. However, you’ll need to book these upgrades at least 24 hours before the flight departs.
AA’s Admirals Club
AA’s Admirals Club is one of many lounges around the world that provide passengers with a comfortable place to relax before their flight. These lounges typically offer free food and drinks, free Wi-Fi, and a quiet, cozy space to get some work done or recharge before your flight.
Generally speaking, you’ll find Admirals Clubs in 50 airports worldwide. Some of them are in major American hubs, while others are in non-hub airports such as Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ), London’s Heathrow Airport (LHR) and Mexico City’s Benito Juarez International Airport (MEX).
Access to Admirals Clubs is available to premium cabin passengers on eligible international flights marketed and operated by AA or a Oneworld partner airline. This includes flights to Asia, Australia, Europe, Middle East and South America.
AA’s fleet
AA’s fleet comprises of more than 862 aircraft, including wide-body and narrow-body Boeing and Airbus jets. It is the third largest airline in the world in terms of wide-body aircraft and sixth in terms of narrow-body aircraft.
The majority of the American Airlines’ fleet are wide-body aircraft, consisting mainly of Boeing jetliners. However, the airline has ordered a large number of Airbus narrow-body jets in recent years.
On October 18, 2013, American announced plans to purchase 179 additional Airbus A320-family aircraft, bringing the total number of Airbus narrow-body aircraft in the AA fleet to 522.
In order to enhance its competitive advantage, American Airlines is focusing on customer satisfaction, service, and value (Thomas & Kummer, 2015). This strategy has helped AA gain a leading position in the airline industry. The airline has been able to achieve this by offering attractive benefits, easy booking, and impressive experience to its passengers.
AA’s history
Alcoholics Anonymous is a worldwide fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other to help others recover from alcoholism. Its principles include the Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions.
AA was founded in 1935 by Bill Wilson, who had a history of consuming alcohol. His goal was to help alcoholics find a power greater than themselves, as a way to achieve sobriety.
In the 1930s, many people saw alcoholism as a moral failure. Doctors and other medical professionals at the time often referred to alcoholism as an incurable disease, or a condition that could kill.
The founders of AA realized that this approach was not enough to help alcoholics break the cycle of addiction and stay sober. They developed the 12-step recovery program, which has been used successfully by more than two million alcoholics since its creation.
